About Us

The Lincolndale Veterinary Center is a 1,600 square foot facility that opened its doors in April of 1991.  Our staff consists of two veterinarians, a veterinary receptionist and three veterinary technicians/assistants.  We are designed, equipped and staffed to provide every level of medical and surgical care necessary to insure your pet's health.  Most importantly, our dedication to blending experience, compassion, and practical patient management will certainly be apparent to you with each patient visit.

Dr. Deborah Sarfaty is a 1980 graduate of Cornell University, College of Veterinary Medicine.  She successfully completed a postgraduate internship at Michigan State University and a two year medical residency at the prestigious Animal Medical Center in Manhattan.  Following her residency, she participated in a one-year fellowship in Neurology and authored several publications in this discipline.  Prior to the development of Lincolndale Veterinary Center, Dr. Sarfaty was an associate veterinarian in a progressive small animal practice in Pelham for six years.  While operating Lincolndale Veterinary Center, Dr. Sarfaty became an Associate Professor of the Veterinary Technology Program at La Guardia Community College in Long Island City.  She was an instructor, staff veterinarian for the surgical patients, Internship Program Coordinator and Advisor for the Student Chapter of NAVTA.  She later became the Director of Health, Wellness and Prevention for Biscuits and Bath, a five-facility doggie day care program in Manhattan.  She provided medical consultation for all daycare facilities, developed safety protocols for infectious diseases, ran training seminars for staff and implemented company-wide policies on emergency procedures and quarantine.

Dr. Randie Shane has been working with animals for more than twenty five years. Also a graduate of Cornell Veterinary School, Dr. Shane is proud to have been integrally involved the institution of a no-kill alternative program while at Cornell.  She followed up her veterinary degree with post graduate training at the Animal Medical Center in New York City.  Dr. Shane is known for her thorough physical exam, gentle and patient manner with pets and her ability to communicate with people.  She has a strong special interest, and place in her heart, for the geriatric patient.  As well as treating dogs and cats, Dr. Shane is experienced with "pocket pets", (guinea pigs, hamsters, etc.), as well as rabbits and small birds.  Dr. Shane has been practicing both traditional medicine and surgery since graduation but has developed a strong passion, and base of experience, in alternative therapy over the past decade.  Her veterinary specialties include acupuncture, nutritional and herbal consultation, tuina and qigong.

Karyn Berger is a New York State Certified veterinary technician who is fully trained to treat and manage all of your pet's medical and surgical needs. She graduated from Mercy College in 2000 with a Bachelors Degree in Science.  She has been a dedicated member of the staff at Lincolndale Veterinary Center since January of 2000. She enjoys spending as much time as possible in the outdoors, hiking, biking, kayaking, and gardening.

Dina McGowan is our fulltime receptionist/veterinary technician who has been working at LVC since 2005.  She will most likely be the first person to greet you on the phone and make sure you feel welcomed and comfortable.  In addition to all of her hospital responsibilities, she is knowledgeable in the areas of veterinary nutrition and pharmaceutical supply.  Additional areas of expertise are general anesthesia and business management.  Dina is also a certified phlebotomist and EKG technician in the human field.

Dani Perrone  is our fulltime staff veterinary assistant. Dani has been part of our team since 2016.  She is a graduate of Animal Behavioral College and is a certified veterinary assistant.   Dani has developed experience in all phases of veterinary technical work.  She has exceptional skills in animal handling and makes sure every pet feels comfortable and secure.  In her spare time Dani is a childcare specialist for young children and enjoys being a mom to her three children.
